Youth Mentoring

Elijah’s Blessing inspires pro-social friendships, strong interpersonal skills, and a sense of hope in the future for at-risk middle and high school students. The focus is to empower youth in establishing goals and following through on commitments while expanding their perspective of life’s possibilities. The organization seeks to surround young people in a caring, inclusive learning environment that offers a strong network of support..

Objectives

Elijah’s Blessing aims to provide mentoring for at-risk middle and high school students in the Greater Baltimore area. The program will create partnerships with the local school districts and the juvenile court system. The program will have four distinct mentoring programs:

  • Trailblazers: This is the central program of Elijah’s Blessing, where at-risk middle school students and their mentors participate in a structured program of support.
  • Turnaround: Turnaround focuses on students who are chronically suspended from middle and high schools.
  • Higher Ground: This program engages youth involved in the juvenile court system.
  • Lunch Friends: This program works with children from local elementary schools.

Girls Advocacy and Leadership Series (GALS)

Girls Advocacy and Leadership Series (GALS) is an after-school program by Women’s Campaign International (WCI) that empowers teenage girls with leadership skills and support to become confident leaders in their communities. The 18-week program combines WCI’s program themes of Entrepreneurship, Public Advocacy, Public Health, and International Relief to enhance the advocacy and leadership skills of young women. The program also invites expert guest speakers to inspire participants and provide networking opportunities. GALS aims to benefit participants in any high school setting, and WCI is confident about expanding the program to more schools in the future.

The main objective of GALS is to empower disenfranchised teenage girls with the skills and support to become confident leaders in their communities. Reading Between the Wheels

Reading Between the Wheels is an innovative literacy program aimed at children under the age of 5. This program combines cutting-edge research and the latest educational technology to develop children’s literacy skills and promote a lifelong love of reading. Our goal is to provide young children with the tools they need to become successful readers and learners. We believe that reading is the key to unlocking a child’s full potential and we are committed to helping every child achieve that potential.

Objectives

The primary objective of Reading Between the Wheels is to improve literacy skills among children under the age of 5. Specifically, we aim to:

  • Foster a love of reading and create a positive association with books among young children.
  • Increase vocabulary and language development through interactive and engaging storytelling.
  • Develop phonemic awareness and phonics skills that are essential for early reading.
  • Encourage early childhood brain development through multisensory learning experiences.
  • Support parents and caregivers in their role as their child’s first teacher and provide them with the tools and resources they need to support their child’s literacy development.
  • Bridging the GAP in Learning Loss for children below the of five (5) to prepare the child for school.

Disadvantaged Workforce Development Program – (DWD)

Elijah’s Blessing Community Service Center Inc. (EBCSC) is a nonprofit organization aimed at providing workforce development opportunities for underrepresented and vulnerable populations. With our new primary focus on workforce development, we are launching two new initiatives: Disability Workforce Development and Prison Re-entry Program. Our goal is to create partnerships and programs that will help people overcome the barriers to employment and reach their full potential in the workforce.

Disability Workforce Development – Ability One Partnered Program

The Ability One program is a partnered program of Elijah’s Blessing Community Service Center Inc. (EBCSC) that aims to provide employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. We will partner with Ability One, a government program that enables people with significant disabilities to secure employment by partnering with government agencies and contractors. Our program will provide training and job placement services, as well as support for people with disabilities to achieve their goals in the workforce.
Prison Re-entry Program

The Prison Re-entry Program is an initiative by Elijah’s Blessing Community Service Center Inc. (EBCSC) aimed at supporting individuals who have been recently released from prison to reintegrate into society and find stable employment. Our program will offer job readiness training, coaching, and mentoring, as well as connections to local employers who are willing to hire people with a criminal record. We believe that by providing these services, we can help reduce recidivism and increase the chances of success for formerly incarcerated individuals.

Go The Green Mile

The Community Greening & Cleaning program is an initiative by Elijah’s Blessing Community Service Center Inc. (EBCSC) aimed at improving, transforming, and beautifying neighborhoods in the Greater Baltimore area. The program seeks to partner with local communities, schools, and other stakeholders in creating an environment that is safe, healthy, and conducive to the social and economic wellbeing of residents.

Objectives

The main objectives of the Community Greening & Cleaning program include:

  • To promote community engagement and participation in neighborhood beatification and transformation projects.
  • To improve the physical appearance and overall livability of the targeted neighborhoods.
  • To create awareness on the importance of preserving the environment and maintaining clean and green surroundings.
  • To foster a sense of community ownership and responsibility in maintaining the cleanliness and beauty of neighborhoods.

EBCSC Shelia’s Closet

Sheila’s Closet is a new program under Elijah’s Blessing Community Service Center Inc. (EBCSC) aimed at promoting youth development, social development, and empowerment. It is a free, community-based program that provides new or gently used clothing, shoes, and accessories to underprivileged girls in the Greater Baltimore area. The program aims to instill confidence, self-esteem, and pride in young girls and empower them to reach their full potential.

Obie’s- (Single Dads Program)

The Single Dads Program is a new initiative by Elijah’s Blessing Community Service Center Inc. (EBCSC) that aims to provide financial assistance, safe haven, temporary housing, and career development to single fathers. The program will partner with local organizations and businesses to offer a comprehensive range of services that will address the unique challenges faced by single fathers, empowering them to take charge of their lives and build a better future for themselves and their families.

The main objectives of the Single Dads Program are as follows:

  • To provide financial assistance to single fathers to help them overcome financial barriers and improve their economic stability.
  • To offer a safe haven for single fathers and their children who are facing homelessness or domestic violence.

Youth Programming

Elijah’s Blessing Community Service Center Inc. (EBCSC) is introducing two new youth-focused initiatives: the Youth Works Program and the Youth Related Program. These programs aim to promote positive youth development, including competency-building skills, social skills, life skills, academic improvement, motivation, and community involvement. The Youth Works Program will partner with the city of Baltimore to provide job opportunities for young adults in accordance with city guidelines. The Youth Related Program will aim to uplift youth and promote social development through events such as the successful “Burgers and Backpacks” event.

Elijah’s Blessing Community Service Center Inc. (EBCSC) is proud to introduce our new program, Homeless Outreach. With a combination of outreach efforts, care coordination, and housing support, our program aims to break the cycle of homelessness and provide a pathway to stability and well-being.

Lupus S.E.N.S.E.- (Support Educate Network Share Encourage)-(Health Awareness)

The Health Awareness Program is a new initiative by Elijah’s Blessing Community Service Center Inc. (EBCSC) aimed at promoting health awareness within the community. The program seeks to raise awareness about different diseases and encourage individuals to take proactive measures to prevent and manage these illnesses. The Health Awareness Program will collaborate with local medical professionals, hospitals, and community health centers to provide relevant and up-to-date information on health and wellness to the community.
